Before the experience: book your sleddog excursion online

To take part in a husky sledding excursion, it is necessary to make a very simple online booking: here is the information for doing so.

Where does the husky sleddog excursion take place?

The Husky Village is located in Alta Valtellina, in Arnoga in Valdidentro, halfway between Bormio and Livigno, and is one of the largest and most important sleddog facilities in the Alps and in the whole of Europe, with over 60 sled dogs housed in the best conditions. If you are passing through for your winter holiday in Livigno or Bormio, add the Husky Village to your must-visit destinations in Alta Valtellina and put the husky excursion among the activities to do in addition to skiing: you won’t regret it!

When does the sleddog excursion take place?

Whenever you like: when you make your reservation, you can choose the day and time of the sleddog excursion among those available. Winter excursions are held daily – snow and weather permitting, to ensure maximum safety – at various times in the morning and afternoon.

Who can participate in the sleddog experience?

The experience of travelling aboard sleds pulled by splendid Nordic dogs is suitable and recommended for the whole family and is one of the most popular and appreciated winter activities with children in Alta Valtellina. It is important to remember, however, that depending on the age of the participants, the way in which they take part in the excursion changes:

  • children under 13 years of age on the day of the experience (Children) travel exclusively on an instructor-led sled, so that they can enjoy the trip in complete safety;
  • children and adults over 13 years of age on the day of the experience (Adults) ride a sled pulled by a husky team, following the instructions given by the instructors before departure;
  • adults who are not in good health, are not in a suitable physical condition or do not believe they are fit to drive the sled may travel on sleds driven by the instructors: this condition must be specified at the time of registration (Transported);
  • pregnant women cannot take part in the tour.

Getting to Husky Village

Reaching the Husky Village is easy: on the road between Bormio and Livigno, at Arnoga in Valdidentro (click here for precise directions). You can park your car directly at the resort, where there are a few parking spaces, or leave it in the car park in Arnoga a short distance away and then walk to the Husky Village in 5 minutes.

Punctuality is very important: it is necessary to arrive at the Husky Village, equipped with the booking confirmation received by e-mail, a few minutes before the start time of the experience. For organisational and dog welfare reasons, in the event of a delay of more than 5 minutes, the excursion will not be possible and you will not be entitled to a refund. Please take into account the weather conditions, road conditions and the time required to reach the facility.

There is a heated room in the facility where you can wait before departure.

Before the excursion: instructions for driving the sled

The instructors explain in a simple way how to drive the sleds and what voice commands to give to the huskies along the way: driving the sled is an integral part of the sleddog experience. Afterwards, the instructors assign each participant a sled and a team of huskies to pull it, up to a maximum of 9 sleds per excursion.

During the excursion

The Nordic dog sleddog tour takes place on a completely snow-covered loop trail, starting and finishing at Husky Village. The route partly follows that of the Arnoga-Cancano Decauville (find out more) for a total length of 5 km, through a magnificent forest in the heart of the Valtellina Alps, in a fairytale setting. Throughout the entire excursion, the participants will be standing driving the sled, putting into practice the instructions given by the instructors before departure.

After the excursion: getting to know the huskies

At the end of the excursion, once back at the starting point, there is a brief moment for participants to familiarise themselves with the dogs that pulled the sled: this will be an opportunity to get to know the more sociable side of the huskies’ character, after having appreciated their skills as tireless runners.
